Stage 1 of Footpath Complete
Stage 1 of the footpath project is now complete, with the large decorative pavers being laid in the concrete over the bridge last week. A number of indivdual paver where also laid in the paved area on the town side of the bridge. The decorative pavers where designed and drawn by local artist Leslie Brown and the feedback from everyone that has seen them has been terrific. The images really enhance the seaside feel of the footpath and will create an excellent first impression to visitors walking in to town. The drawings are so popular, Les has decided to sell prints of them and anyone interested in purchasing one should visit Les's web site. www.lesbrownart.com.
A number of the smaller indivdual pavers where also laid in the paving on the town side of the bridge. These pavers are from the 1st lot of pavers that where ordered. Anyone who has paid for a paver, but has not seen theirs laid, should not be concerned. The pavers from subsequesent orders will be laid in either Stage 2 or 3 of the project.
Stage 2 of the project has been delayed for a number of reasons, but hopefully will commence again soon. MACA are just waiting to receive the rest of the funding from council before they can recommence. When work recommences, the first thing that needs doing is the repair of the rockwall along the lakes edge. Once this has been repaired, the paving work will continue from where it finishes at the moment, right through to the Ice Creak shop in town.
The works need to create a minimum impact on the town, so if they can''t be completed before Christmas, the works may be postponed until after the holiday period.
Please keep checking back for updates.
